A Victory...

I especially like the quote from the geneticist:
"Becoming a member of our species is conferred immediately upon conception. At the moment of conception a human being with 46 chromosomes comes into existence. These chromosomes, the organization, the chromosomal pattern is specifically human. The RNA, the messenger protein, the proteins are distinctly human proteins. So this new human being is a member of our species, and humanity is not acquired sometime along the path, it occurs right at conception. Dr. Peeters-Ney also stated that an embryo or fetus is whole in the sense that “[a]ll the genetic information sufficient and necessary to mature, and the information that is needed for this human being’s entire life is present at the time of conception”; that it is “separate from the mother” because “[t]he genetic program is totally complete and this human being will mature according to his or her own program”; and that it is unique because it has “a totally unique genetic code.”
It makes so much sense its scary.

What does "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infinged" mean to you?
Well it took over 200 years for 9 people to decide that this clause in the 2nd amendment actually meant "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed".(read the news as it breaks here).
Well i guess common sense won a great victory today, however it is disheartening to know that 4 out of those 9 justices disagreed with the ruling. Yet another clue that liberalism MUST be a mental disorder!!!

Da Lat
Ngan just finished visiting Da Lat. Da Lat is a city in the interior of Vietnam. Way into the mountains.The location is good for a vacation escaping the heat. They built a railroad up to the city, and when I visited last year, we saw one of the original steam engines they used to get to the city.
They grow strawberries, avocados, raspberries, and lots of other food you can't grow in the heat below the mountains. There are pine trees, and the grass is very fine there. It is very similar to here, but probably the temperature remains about 70 year round.

There are many gardens in Da Lat. One is called the Vallée d’Amour because students attending the French built school used to fool around there. Now they have turned it into a nice garden.

Lunacy
Laddies and Gentlemen,
It is I Sam the American Eagle.
I for one am appalled by the way this blog's purpose is rapidly deteriorating to what can only be described as lunacy. What other word could be used to describe a blog that proudly displays a talking American eagle. It is for this reason that I am promptly stopping this speech.

I'm not sure if I'm actually posting on the blog... I guess We'll see when I go to look at it. I suppose I should put a picture in, as it seems to be the tradition. So... Here it is! A picture of a power meter!!! I'm sorry, it's all that I have on my computer is pictures of meters. Pretty exciting, huh?

US government purposely destroyed levees in Iowa!!
Don't believe what you hear in the news, the only thing that makes sense is that those levee were bombed by the government. Amanda and I are the closest to Iowa than any of the rest of you, and I heard (what sounded like to me) an EXPLOSION!! The only explanation is that the government wanted to destroy those levees and destroy all those midwesterner's houses.
In all seriousness though, i wonder a couple of things 1) will the government give the people in Iowa aid (IE fema trailers, debit cards etc)? 2) will you see the midwesterners in Iowa actually doing physical labor to save/rebuild their houses after the waters recede?

Well I've expanded upon Dan's idea of having a "Family Calender" by creating a blog. I don't really know how these things work, but what I have in mind is perhaps a private blog with everyone having some sort of administrative access. If anyone else has any suggestions.......POST THEM ON THE BLOG!!!! Anyway I'm off to customize this awesome blog.

Saturday in the park...
On the agenda for today:
1)Clean the apartment: not much fun but necessary since we are both so busy during the week now.
2)Pack a picnic lunch and take it to the park: The menu for today will be salami sandwiches, melon cubes, cheese sticks, and Vernors (mmm bubbly!). Robert plans on bringing a book to read, G. K. Chesterton's "Orthodoxy", and I will bring Pope Benedict XVI's newest encyclical "Spe Salvi" (Saved in Hope) which I am thoroughly enjoying so far. I also plan on bringing some knitting with me in honor of Worldwide Knit in Public Day.
So what are your plans for this fine Saturday?

The park was lovely, the bugs... not so much. There were flying bugs, hopping bugs, hopping flying bugs, crawling bugs, and deer flies. We held out until the caterpillars and ants started to lay siege to our blanket, then we moved to a bench. The sandwiches were very good. There were many many people at the park, which is understandable since it is a very nice park. We many go back later in the evening.
