Is defeating Shredder and returning rat man splinter to his human form even possible?

There is only one man who can do this and after saving the world, we'll celebrate with a pizza.

The only problem is, to do it again you have to start at the beginning. "I'm the furthest I've ever been" was I believe a popular excuse to continue playing nintendo. I knew exactly where to go in the video to find out how he beat the part before shredder that always kills me. Two hours of playing to lose to flying space men right before the end guy. What a pain.
